The Raspberry Pi Sense HAT is an add-on board for the Raspberry Pi that provides a wide range of sensing capabilities. Equipped with various sensors, it allows you to monitor environmental factors such as pressure, humidity, and temperature, as well as movement, orientation, and colour. The 8×8 RGB LED matrix displays sensor data visually, while the five-button joystick enables user interaction with your projects.
Originally developed for the International Space Station as part of the Astro Pi educational program by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and the European Space Agency, the Sense HAT is ideal for projects that require sensing of position, motion, orientation, or environmental data. It is powered by the Raspberry Pi computer through its GPIO header.
An officially supported Python library allows easy access to the on-board sensors, LED matrix, and joystick, making it compatible with any Raspberry Pi that features a 40-pin GPIO header.
